Enlighten Up! Premiere

It is pretty cool to have your movie premiere in a theater surrounded by palm trees.

We arrived yesterday afternoon about 45 minutes before the show to find a crowd starting to build. It was an amazing setting and people were just hanging out, and mingling as they listened to a local guitarist, Johnny, who had heard about the film and stopped by to provide some pre-show entertainment. I love the island spirit!

There were somewhere between 300-400 people lined up at 6, ready to see the show. With me there were key team members: Jonathon Hexner, Khari Streeter and Jeanne Hagerty, which was so great although we wished everyone who worked on this movie could have been with us especially Tom Hagerty.

Norman Allen, who is featured in the film, had flown over from the Big Island with his wife Purna. In addition to Norman, yoga pioneers Nancy Gilgoff and David Williams were in attendance. It was great to get a chance to speak with Norman, Nancy and David together as these were the pioneers who first studied with Pattabhi Jois in Mysore in 1973 (Norman had been there first, followed by David and Nancy) and were the teachers who brought Pattabhi Jois and Ashtanga Yoga to America in 1975. I was wondering what they would think about this film, and was so pleased to see them smiling and laughing afterwards.

It was an evening full of a lot of great excitement, great stories, and amazing people. More details and pictures to follow soon…but right now, I am finally going to go to the beach. Aloha.
